Yes! Carbon Roots International Inc. is registered in the United States as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. CRI's charitable mission is to encourage and enable the adoption of sustainable charcoal technologies in Haiti and the broader developing world.
Does CRI directly implement projects in Haiti?
No. Carbon Roots International makes charitable grants to our partners in Haiti, including Carbon Roots Haiti, a local social enterprise registered in Haiti as a Société Anonyme.
Where does CRI get funding?
Carbon Roots International gets funding through tax-deductible donations from individuals as well as grants from charitable foundations, such as the Barr Foundation, Halloran Philanthropies, and National Geographic Foundation.
What is Carbon Roots International Inc.'s relationship with the Low-Profit Limited Liability Company with a similar name?
Our nonprofit and CRI L3C are working toward the same goal of a better future for Haiti through sustainable charcoal, but there is no legal relationship—ownership or oversight—between the two organizations.
